Program Information
Animals of Amicalola Falls – Join a park naturalist to learn about animals native to Amicalola Falls State Park during this 30-minute program! Learn amazing facts about our backyard heroes and what you can do to help protect them. Programs may include up to 2 of the following live animals: various species of snake, box turtle, hawk, and or owl. Presentations take place at the Lodge in the lobby.
Our animals may occasionally need the day off, in the rare event an animal is not available for this program another program may take its place. Thank you for understanding.
Birds of Prey presented by Blue Ridge Raptors – Join Blue Ridge Raptors to meet up to 6 different species of raptor up close! 45-minute programs are held in the lodge lobby come early to chat with Raptor Specialists, stay after the program for photos with a raptor! This program replaces 1pm Animals of Amicalola on the days it is scheduled.
Rocks Rock! With Geode Julia– Chat with Geode Julia in this Q+A style program and discover her amazing collection of rocks and minerals: Learn how geodes form and why the rocks surrounding us every day really do ROCK! Meet in the Arch room located in the Visitor’s Center.
Love on the Appalachian Trail – This interactive exhibit chronicles the many love stories of the AT! Find our story book in the Arch room: add your own tale of love on the trail or just read the entries of other hikers. Love on the trail is not exclusively romantic: feel free to add moments of self-love, friendship, family, or even the trail itself as one of your loves!
Campfire Stories – Gather around the campground fire pit to spend time enjoying the night and learning about various topics!
A.T. Gateways – Friday night March 1 will feature a hiker rendezvous for past, present and future thru-hikers and a bit of A.T. history. On Saturday, March 2, from 9:00-5:00pm, select vendors will be at the Lodge with gear and trail related information, and there will be programs and presentations covering everything from head to toe about hiking the A.T. Sunday March 3rd, give back to the trail by participating in a trail work trip.
Spring Equinox Sunset Hike – Join a park naturalist on a sunset hike to the waterfall and celebrate the spring equinox with us!
Camouflage in Action: Egg Hunt! – Join park naturalists to learn how camouflage works and make your own camouflaged egg. Next, test your skills at detecting diversion by searching for camouflaged eggs that will challenge even the most experienced egg-hunters. This program is intended for k-6, all ages are welcome to join. Meet us in the Activities field across from the visitor’s center.
