Animals of Amicalola Falls- Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1pm and 4pm in the Lodge lobby (will take place in the Visitor’s Center starting April 20 2024)

Bats of Georgia- April-November 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 7pm in April, 7:30pm in May

Iconic Trees of Amicalola Falls- April-November 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 11am (excluding 5/11)

Sunset Stories– 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 7pm in April, 7:30pm in May

Program Information

Animals of Amicalola Falls – Join a park naturalist to learn about animals native to Amicalola Falls State Park during this 30-minute program! Learn amazing facts about our backyard heroes and what you can do to help protect them. Programs may include up to 2 of the following live animals: various species of snake, box turtle, hawk, and or owl. Presentations take place at the Lodge in the lobby. Starting April 20th this program will take place in the Visitor’s Center.

Our animals may occasionally need the day off, in the rare event an animal is not available for this program another program may take its place. Thank you for understanding.

Bats of Georgia – If you don’t already love Georgia’s bats- you’re about to! Join bat enthusiasts and Georgia master naturalists to learn what bats do for us, and what we can do for Georgia’s bats. After the 30-minute presentation, take a walk using special bat-detecting gear to participate in citizen-science! Meet us in the campground picnic pavilion.

Birds of Prey presented by Blue Ridge Raptors – Join Blue Ridge Raptors to meet up to 6 different species of raptor up close! 45-minute programs are held in the lodge lobby come early to chat with Raptor Specialists, stay after the program for photos with a raptor! This program replaces 1pm Animals of Amicalola on the days it is scheduled.

Camouflage in Action: Egg Hunt! – Join park naturalists to learn how camouflage works and make your own camouflaged egg. Next, test your skills at detecting diversion by searching for camouflaged eggs that will challenge even the most experienced egg-hunters. This program is intended for k-6, all ages are welcome to join. Meet us in the Activities field across from the visitor’s center.

Iconic Trees of Amicalola Falls – Join volunteer naturalists to learn how to use a guide book and scientific sketches to identify amazing trees along the Appalachian Approach Trail. This guided hike will take you from the visitor’s center to the reflection pond parking lot, averaging 1.5 hours and is considered a moderate walk.

Leave No Trace by Reducing Your Waste– Join us during this interactive program to learn about the carbon cycle, pollinators, and detrimental impact of litter. Balancing out negative effects with positive impact by discovering what counts as waste. Meet in Visitor Center for a short hike to Shelter 2 and pledge for a greener and healthier Earth!

Sunset Stories – This series features professional storytellers as they work their magic at the campground firepit! Bring a chair, a flashlight and an open imagination for this 1 hour program. Meet at the campground firepit at sunset. If rain forecast is 75% or higher, stories will take place in the lodge lobby. Register here to recieve comminications about weather changes.
